Biosimilars 5: The Biosimilars Market

In the fifth course in the Biosimilars Continuing Education Series entitled "The Biosimilar Market", Phil Schneider will discuss the benefits--and challenges--of increasing biosimilar uptake; compare strategies used by different countries to overcome these challenges; and learn which have successfully led to robust, sustainable markets. Recent trends and upcoming developments in the U.S. biosimilar market will be highlighted.

After completing this module, the participant should be able to:

  1. Describe the goals and benefits for payers (such as private insurers or governments) in promoting use of biosimilars
  2. Identify key challenges to increasing bio similar uptake
  3. Compare and contrast the various strategies used by different countries to increase biosimilar uptake rates
  4. Explain the key factors which have historically led to robust, sustainable biosimilar markets
  5. Discuss the role of physician and patient confidence in building a biosimilar market
