Full course description
The following course, Cross-Cultural Communication: How to have difficult conversations will equip participants with the tools to have productive cross-cultural conversations. Participants will learn about different techniques (e.g., calling in, dialogue) to intervene and prevent microaggressions. Additionally, participants will get a chance to partake in a simulated difficult conversation to apply the concepts learned through the CE lecture. Your facilitator is the Ohio State College of Pharmacy's DEI Officer, Z Tenney.
After completing this module, the participant should be able to:
- Differentiate between debate, discussion, and dialogue.
- Define "calling out" and "calling in".
- Identify strategies for intervening when witnessing a microaggression and/or misunderstanding.
- Identify strategies for preventing microaggressions and/or misunderstanding before they occur.
- Employ strategies to intervene when witnessing a microaggression and/or misunderstanding in case-based scenario in preceptor environment.
